hey, i'm just got a jackson kelly, but want somebetter pickups, i have in mind to install a jb in the bridge, i play stuff likemetallica, megadeth, anthrax and al that, but want better pickups than the duncan design, so what do you recommend for bridge and neck????

Re: Pickups

likemetallica, megadeth, anthrax

Just get whatever those guys use-- and get their amps and FX's too while your at it. (Just Kiddin) but do it if ya can $$$???

If ya want to sound like them thru a cheap amp... Maybe get the distortion's and or more aggressive pups here?

Good Lukster!

Re: Pickups

It would help out to know what amps and effects you're playing through as well as what guitar you have. That said,
Old Metallica = Invader or Distortion
New Metallica = EMGs
Megadeth = JB
Anthrax... Scott Ian has a custom shop pickup (El Diablo)

If you're like me, you typically aren't concerned with getting EXACTLY the tones you hear on the stage and on the record - just want to get close. You can probably get close with any of them really. Another option would be the Custom.
Good luck :)

Re: Pickups

Don't get a JB it's too shrill in a Alder Jackson.

I suggest a of pair of SH-6

If you want more twang and cut, put a SH-5 in the bridge.

If you are using a Tremolo get the Trembucker versions for the bridge.

I like the SH-8b in a Jackson because they are bright guitars.

Re: Pickups

Im thinking just in duncans because i instaled the zw set on my ltd mh 250, i dont want that exact tone, just some great tone, i usualy use the boss metal zone with a crybaby from hell, through marshall mg30 i justa want that my guitarsound great for soloing and just a little low on the bridge, thanx

Re: Pickups

I'd recommend a Distortion bridge TB-06 (get the tremspaced on the Kelly even if it's a fixed bridge). For the neck I;d recommend a 59 or a Jazz.

You will be able to cover alot of territory and SD doesn't make junk so you will have a top notch foundation to work with a quality amp.

Qoute: (get the tremspaced on the Kelly even if it's a fixed bridge).

Sorry man, but i dont understand that, im realy new into pickups settings

Re: Pickups

Duncan makes pickups in two different pole-piece spacings - standard and trembucker. The trembucker spaced units are essentially the same, just with wider-spaced pole pieces to accomodate for the wider string spacing associated with trem systems like Floyd Rose or Kahler.
Read this link - it will help clear up a lot of general questions: http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/faq.shtml
