Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Scott, how similar is the sound to the Dr. Z Route 66 you had? Same type of amp, I presume? How would you describe the gain on the B1tch setting? Like a JCM 800? How tight are the lows with your Les Paul?

I had a Rt. 66. I didn't care for the ultralinear power supply. It sounded great, don't get me wrong, but it went 0-200 decibels when you went from 1-2 on the volume knob. Just not my cup of tea.

This OTOH is very pleasing running it through my Two Rock 2x12 w/ the TR 12-65 speakers.

Bitch switch takes it into a more plexi-ish territory. It's just a little gain boost. Not quite subtle, not quite overwhelming. Like tastefully adding a bit of tubescreamer to the mix.

Jesus Titty Fing Christ. That is beautiful man! This is the first time I've seen it! Looks so great, damn im still in shock.
How did you go with the groove tubes, I thought they wouldn't fit? Im glad you did since they sound better.
Those plates look great I'm glad I only had to wait a couple days for that upgrade. :D
I like the green led to. Green means go! and in this case, kick nuts!

Cant wait till I'm playing it!

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

That's a really fine-looking amp!

The logo is a wee bit small, but that's a personal taste issue. (You're looking @ the guy that has an amp coming with the Japanese rising sun on the front and a guitar collection that resembles a managerie :) )

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

BTW, Scott ... with the gain on 10, how much crunch are we talking about here?

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Very very nice:D

As to the "Marshall-look" comment: if they have an issue, it should be with the companies that manufacture the part(s), not the guy that assembles them.

You can even get a Marshall logo from a number of companies....that would REALLY push it!

Same couldbe said for Warmoth, USAGC etc........

Awesome Scott & AWESOME ALEX!!!!!!!!:beerchug:

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Thats sweet, I'm tempted after building my telecaster, to try my hand at building an amp.

True. Warmoth and USACG are licensed to make their designs. I mentioned it because there was a huge suit between Roland and Behringer over trade dress of the Boss pedal line and Behringer's new stompboxes. I won't get in to details other than to say, yes, the first run looked EXACTLY like Boss.

However, since Marshall hasn't used that dress since the late-70's - early-'80's on normal production run product (except reissues, which are not normal production run), I don't see an issue.

Companies manufacture the parts as "replacement" parts, or used to. That was the sole purpose in the beginning. Now with more and more small amp companies, like Scott, coming about, they're getting more business.

I love the look of the amp. Gives me GAS for one. :)

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

I've had some MAJOR JTM GAS since my cousin took his back. His was a box stock 89'RI with the original crappy Sovtech 5881's and I was playing it thru a crappy Peavey Alnico speaker. Other than it farting out on the low notes it sounded Awesome! ( I have clips somewhere?) The Edena looks like it would sound 100% better than the stock RI. I love the Bitch switch concept. Very cool Marketing Idea :D Any chance of ya sending one to N.Y. so the Long Island crew can do some beta testing for you???:laugh2:

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

I'm clip challenged. I'll let Alex and Terry try to get some at some point.

Take a JTM45 and add a little gain boost. There's your clips! :)

A word on this amp. EL34's are a very real possibility with this amp. Not really that much better, just different. I have a WEber SS copper cap replacement and it ran fine.

Sorry Alex....I keep staring.

I'm not embarrased to say I have wood:laugh2:

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

OH, did I mention it's quiet as hell between songs? :)

Thanks to bruce at Mission Amps for teaching me a few of those tricks.

You should have yours soon. When everyone sees the head that Jeff Swanson is building for you, they'll all have wood! :)

Scott, I looked those up on Webers site....I wanna grab a Bias-Rite too.

For $20-30, the Copper Cap might be something neat too grab just for a different flavor.

Can't wait!

As for clips: I've never tried anything other than a tape player...couldn't quite get the hang of a PXR4 I had...but I want to figure out howto mikea cab or 2 & get some clips of this baby.

I'm a hack, but three chords & the Truth is all you really need!!!!:laugh2:

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Man, I hope to scrape together enough funds soon to get one of those! You have some great prices. I'd get the combo myself.:)

If you grab a bias rite, you'll need one of those right angle adapters. unless Jeff builds your cab with a lot of room above the tubes.

Yeah, I'm truly psyched about that design & that New Gold logo of yours!!!:bigthumb:

I sent him a message before about the KT height. Thanks for the heads-up:beerchug:

Yup, that's what I was thinking.

Re: Pic's of Armotron's new Edana 45

Looking at the quality of the components in that amp, especially the transformer, I can tell that amp is gonna sound just like clean Hendrix with a 50th Anniversary maple neck strat Armotron has. You'll want to hear that fat tone monster with some OD pedals and a 4-12 cab! You're neighbors are gonna hear you from 2 blocks away, with that setup! Point to point amps put out some meaty volume! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
