Re: Pignose amps

I think that they're actually about $500 new. That said, I actually really like the crate v-16, just trying to see if there is another relatively cheap tube amp that doesn't sound bad.

Re: Pignose amps

I tried a 60 watt i think and i really did not like it all volume and very little tone even thoug it was a tube amp. obnoxiosly harsh and rotten.

Re: Pignose amps

I had a 2x6L6 version a few years ago. I thought it s*cked big green donkey d*cks. It was all bent up and looked like the ship from china went through a hurricane or something as it came to the US.

Can I say that here, big green donkey ?

:)

For 500 bucks, look to the Ampeg Jet J12T for a great little 2xEL84 with verb.

or the crate V series stuff is pretty nice bang for the buck.

Re: Pignose amps

Well I guess it's pretty unanimous :smack:

I agree with Scott.

Re: Pignose amps

Oh well, just was hoping that there was a nice sounding 6l6 or 6v6 lower end amp out there. The crate has the nice sounding el84 amp for cheap, but I really like the 6v6s.

Just curious, that's all. I'll probably end up building a 5e3, but that's a ways away.

Thanks all :)

Re: Pignose amps

I had the 40 watt 1x10 model. Two 6L6 tube, a few 12ax7s, I think. It was fairly limited tonewise. Easy to carry. I ended up throwing it out a second story window. I guess that says it all...:fingersx:

Ok, that is being claimed, will replace all of my other quotes and will stand to remind me not to get a pignose.

Thanks for the unanimous thumbs down :)

Re: Pignose amps

---I got the PIGNOSE that costs $75. NEW(solidstate)--I LOVE IT---It plugs in the wall OR runs on 6 AA batteries(for a longgg time)---this little amp sounds decent w/an Overdrive Pedal----it has a 4"or5" speaker(crap)...

-I rigged a plug so I could run it into 2X12"enclosure--it sounds decent!

--That's my review of the smallest PIGNOSE--

THE COOLEST thing is this, I had NO ELECTricity for 3 DAYS(ice storm)--I put batteries in my PIGNOSE & put batteries in my distortion pedal & ROCKED OUT FOR 3 DAYS W/NO POWER, it was great, my neighbors were knocked out cause no one had power...BUT I WAS ROCKIN' BABY.

that Pignose is a great little practice amp.

I got one of the tiny pignose amps, and they're loads of fun. We're not talking great tone at all, but definately different. They suck, but in a very awesome way.
