Hey there I have a Squier 'Fender' Strat, any ideas how to "pimp" it.
I am going to put The Jb Jr pickup and lil '59 in ... what else can I do make it a good guitar sound and appearance :)

Re: Pimp My Guitar**

Add "bling" until the guitar is gaudy in appearance, then add more "bling."

Seriously, there's a wealth of information and 1000s of ideas floating around this forum. All you have to do is start reading.

The rest of the electronics, too. Pots, caps, the toggle switch and output jack.

Re: Pimp My Guitar**

Well. All depends on colour, but a good pickguard change will do wonders:

Black Moto or Red for a black guitar,

Tortoise shell or "Mother of Bowling Ball" or Red pearl for a Sunburst.

Black or Red Pearl for a Red guitar.

White Pearl for a white, Surf Green or Yellow guitar.

also, if it's SSS:

That wiring will kick ass on anyone elses Strat, it's in my Squier!! It looks cool too!

Re: Pimp My Guitar**

Have someone shoot it in silver flake then do brightly-colored candy flames over the top like so. It doesn't get much more pimped than that. :D

Re: Pimp My Guitar**

You'll want at least one humbucerk, then.

I believe he said he was adding a JB jr.

Here is my Squier project. (the white one)

starting at the top:
Started with a $139 1995 squier strat
Sperzel keys,
bone nut,
dunlop straplocks.
3 ply pickguard
500k pots with push/pull pot to split the bucker
Blue lace sensor /neck
Silver lace/ middle
Duncan C5 /bridge

What I ended up with is a strat that plays and sounds fantastic! Ive had buddies make fun of me for putting so much work and money into a Squier, but I learned how to work on guitars. I ended up with killer guitar.
Ive had other buddies that have high end strats that feel mine blows theirs away..

Go for it!

I don't know if your pup choice is the best for the music you play... just my humble opinion, but you could maybe do better with Quarter pounders...
Buy a special pickguard - mirror, graphics, etc...
Locking tuners and graphite nut if you use the whammy bar.
Do keep it simple with everything that's related to looks.

Re: Pimp My Guitar**

How is a quarter pounder better for classic rock i thought that was more modern then the jb jr. I would of thought lil 59 would be better for bridge and then some good single coils for the other positions and maybe 7 way switching of some combination. Thats what i would do if i had to have a humbucker in the bridge (or get a hum routed pickguard if the body is routed for that). Then get a cool pickguard, change the nut, tuners and maybe bridge (depends on how good the current one is) as well as all electronics.

Re: Pimp My Guitar**

Thanks! As far as pickups, check your routing. Most likely its going to have a swimming pool route. If that is the case, you can choose to go with a full size bucker if you want.. But sounds like you want to keep the traditional look?
