I know what you mean. I wish I had that kind of cake to drop on a special order, tuned to my exact specifications but I don’t. All of the guitars I've owned in the past 15 years have been trade-in's plus cash for something new.
I went from 88' Strat to used 93' PRS to new 97' PRS to used 80' Les Paul to new 04' PRS.

That one appears to be in Royal Blue. It appears to have the matching maple edge. The Whale Blue has the natural maple edge with cream pickup rings. I don’t thing the black rings with white pickups will work with a natural maple edge. But it works fantastically on the Royal Blue finish.

Actually it's whale blue according to my hang tag. I was just using the sunlight, it's actually a really really dark guitar in person.
No, not with a natural edge that would be rough! I'd stick with Zebra or Reverse Zebra.

Really? Whale Blue with matching edge. That's rare. I didn’t think PRS offered this in Whale Blue. Very cool and unique. If it's a whale blue the back and neck must be black then.

Actually no....it's rather bizarre I know. Maybe it started as royal blue but I tell you what, ifnanything other than direct sunlight it looks the same color if not a bit darker as the whale blue on their site. It's so dark you have to be in direct light to tell it's a 10 top. Who knows maybe they put the wrong thing on the tag? But I'm here to tell you it's dark. It's also the lightest PRS I've ever picked up. It's significantly lighter than my strat, tele, and Godin. Maybe it was a special order deal...I have no clue. My guess is that it was meant to be a royal blue and they put too much, or the wrong color on the guitar.
Like was said earlier what if no one makes a guitar exactly like what you want other than a one man operation and you don't feel comfortable dropping the cheese for something you can't play beforehand?
