Pinch harmonics tip I thought I'd share.

Ok I don't know if this is of any use or even standard technique, but I just discovered it recently so I'll post it:
When doing a pinch harmonic, try sliding up towards the headstock with your picking hand while doing the "brush" move. This can help you find the "sweet" spot where the harmonic is strongest and make it sound nicer.
Yeah... that's it basically... nothing special.

yeah you have too find the right position ... pinch harmonic is like a flageleot (sp) with the right hand...

Yes, this is basically what it's about... finding the right spot while you're doing it, so you can't mess upwith the position so easily. (And I mean sliding up while "dampening" the string, not trying, then sliding up and trying again :smack: )

hehehe:) nIce thread!!!My favorit theme !!!!Picking ist the key to make a pinch harmonic..there are some spots to make it easier, but nobody needs the spots to make a pinch harmonic!!!i do between the bridge pu and the last two fretts everywhere!!!you just have to change the "picking" style and position.
the best positions are like that:
if you like a screaming pinch ,you have to do it in the end position of your bridge pu(i assume the bridge as beginning ,and the neck as ending).this is the place where you get enough highs to make it scream.
if you like pinch harmonics like zakk wylde ,you have to do them in the begining of the neck pu ,wich gives you more midds and bass to make it more sing than scream.Anyways ,if you want to pinch in the right pitch ,you have to choose these two spots. But if you like to give more"freedom" and "personality " to your harmonics ,you can begin from the first spot till the last two frets.try it out.Try not to "pick" , instead ,touch the strings.this gives you the feeling for it.And make it easyer to find "your personal spot".And ,choose the right picks to give your thumb the right angel to "touch" the strings and give the right tone.I like dunlop 250 and ibanez paul gilberts to make pinch harmonics.
And ofcourse .choose the right pu to do it!!!Like duncan distortion ,parallel axis or jb!!!
The harmonics are easier to get between 3. and 12. frett. And the easiest string i the "g".
