Planet waves

Anybody else have 'em?
I bought some of these cables, supposedly the best on the market. Not shure about that but they are a million times better than my old cables wich were crackly and noisy when moving around. Nice and silent now. The compression springs work nicely and the jack connection is as solid as a rock now. I even like the purty gold plated look on them.
The circuitbreaker button thing is pretty funny but I doubt that I will use it much since I can mute the sound with my TU-2. Anyway they work fine and I'm happy but somethings puzzle me a little bit.
For instance what's the deal with the limited lifetime guarantee? Will it still apply in 10 years from now?
The little instruction drawing on the side of the package shows a picture of an amp with a cable going to a pedal, gowing to a guitar. The cable between the pedal and amp is called signal cable and the cable between the pedal and the guitar is called instrument cable. The difference would be that the signal cable is shielded on both sides and the signal cable is only shielded on one side.
I got 2 instrument cables but I don't hear any noise. Should I go back to the shop and exchange one cable for a signal cable? Or would the difference be so minimal that it wouldn't be worth the trouble?

Everything works so it's fine with me it's just that I don't want to miss out on anything when I pay some good money for a pair of cables.

Re: Planet waves

Hmmm not sure about the instrument/signal cable question, but I have used Planet Waves for a while. They've always been really reliable for me. Good quality cables

Re: Planet waves

I suppose ive always used 'instrument' cables in all my connections. If it aint broke dont fix it is what i say.

Re: Planet waves

Great cables, but not as good as my MOGAMI Gold Series.

Re: Planet waves

I use PW instrument and speaker cables and IMHO are great.
Never had a problem in 2 years of road abuse

Re: Planet waves

So why are mogami gold series better? I think any high end cable is as good as any other, biggest difference would be merely cosmetic. I doubt that I would actually hear a difference between PW and Mogami. I do see a difference in price. ;)

Some more people want to chime in who use 'em and know about the signal/instrumental cable thing?

Re: Planet waves

you mean the instrument cable is shielded only on one side.... I would change the cable. Because the princip is that the outer shield is just connected to the amp but not to the guitar, so that the hiss go to the grounded amp. If you use two instr cables the shield of the secound isn't connected direct to the amp. It works fine this way but with a signal cabel you maybe have a little bit less hiss. But maybe it isn't worth. ;)

Re: Planet waves

Yeah I probably should for tone's sake.
I'll be going back to the shop next week along with the drummer who is going to buy a ride cymbal to complete his rig. We found this new store close to where we live and they sell some nice stuff there so I wouldn't mind checking it out again.
