Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

Wattage

High Voltologist
Well the deal I was working on fell through and since I can't see laying the $$$ down for one of the Steve Jones replicas I figured I would just make my own.

I need to get the 70's witch hat knobs and get rid of the gold covers and it'll be a fair representation anyway.

lol... I knew it as soon as I saw the classified for the witch hat knobs.

Looks good my man!

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

I dig it, I just wish those Eclipses had the knobs in the right places.

Is your band the Strip Club Devils? Cuz you're using all the symbology I use for my projects so I assume you guys rock.

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

Ha Ayrton I knew you would find this thread first!

Empty - yeah the Devils is/are my band, first and foremost a Rock N Roll band for sure.

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

If I ever loose my mind and buy a $4,000 guitar, it is going to be a SJLPC.

Scott, did you ever get those witch hats? I have some I pulled off a Greco LP Custom you can have...although I need to check to see if they are for mini or full-sized pots.

PM me if yuo're interested.

Looking at that guitar.....I often wish Gibson LP's had one volume and 2 pullup tone pots to split the humbuckers, laid out on the body like ESP did on that guitar. It'd put the volume in a more normal spot.

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

Well goddam, the original Steve Jones and your ESP are tops in my book! I still love a kill-switch option for the era!

I swear to God, for as many people who can identify the greats, such as Clapton/Page/VH...there is but one Steve Jones! He has a tone/style all his own! The Steve Jones tone is far more METAL than most realize.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i--Gk0MRWZw Only the beginning and end of linky matter as far as Steve Jones is concerned.

Yes, there is a HWY 666 in New Mexico @ 1:25 - 1:30, although I heard they changed the number. A trucker with a flatbed tried to kill me on the upward slope of that divided HWY. He was trying to pass slower trucks on the two lanes headed North. ;)

I am waiting on the knobs, they shipped a week ago but haven't shown up yet. I pulled the covers off and of course it looks and sounds better. The only thing I really don't like about the guitar is the 3 knob config, I swear I am going to break off a fingertip at a gig sometime, otherwise it rocks.

Great vids Sludge!

Yipes! The Sex Pistols, The Professionals and The Neurotic Outsiders would be the best places to look IMO. Iggy's Instinct album too.

I got the spaghetti incident! That and Metallica's Garage days are some of my fav tunage.

Aint it fun.... When you know you're gonna die young......

Cool homage to the Jonesy Bro!! I got a chuckle outta seeing a multi thousand dollar guitar in honor of someone that was famous for NOT being able to play..

But Im a pistols fan.. never heard anything by his other groups.. Wasnt John Taylor bassist in the Nuero Outsiders??

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

Wow Jonesy can play in my book, he is a brick **** house with an LP in his hands.

Blood - definitely check the Outsiders. Taylor played bass, Duff played guitar and Matt Sorum played drums.

If you guys don't know The Professionals grab "Didn't See It Coming", phenomenal album!

Re: Play in a day the Jonesy way - ESP

First off great axe Scott- I didn't see this thread before.

Second- I felt the tone on Bollocks was absolutely fantastic-especially the phasered bit on Anarchy.

Knobs on, covers off

Ahhh! Much better!:cool2:

I was just noticing how much more player friendly the knob positions were, compared to an LP. I must have short arms. The standard strat vol. position is a pinky finger buster for me.
