Played a SF Master Volume Twin Reverb today + band practice

Mhmm... well that was a nice clean sound. Funny how 'thin', in a way, those amps can sometimes sound, but at the same time it works just great. Cuts like nothing else, and it's AMAZINGLY dynamic, even using the Alternative 8 (very high output pup) and my Basswood/Floyd Strat :D
Oh and be careful with that bass. **** that amp could pump it out right back at you and knock you off your feet. Lethal. It tamed easily on the treble though which I wasn't expecting.

This amp does NOT forgive any mistakes though. It's tough to get used to it.

I do recall, having once played a Reissue TR and a 67 Blackface Super, that the more Blackface circuit sounded a little thicker. But it's been a while.

The Twin's really not the amp for me, but one of its smaller bros can definitely fit the bill!

All I had was Bad Monkey + Power Grid + Twin. LOADS of tones from there. The PG is WAY too compressed though, so I'll next time take the Danelectro Metal I. Which is however a little thinner sounding, not in a bad way, than the Power Grid. The Bad Monkey worked real nice with the Twin Reverb.

Next time just BM + Dano Metal. May try the HotDrive and Boost instead of the BM for added versatility and punchier/more dynamic sound...? Ah well. Was fun for sure!

Hehe that reminds me... I had band practises years ago using (...not by choice) a Marshall AVT50 head with 412. I could NOT find my bass. Just couldn't hear it. And yet that Twin... BOOM. Right there in my guts. And hell it was propped on top of a chair with insulating foam under it!!

As I was the sole guitarist, I used the Charvel with just A8 + coil split and volume controls. Next time I'll try the Strat, which is thinner sounding but brighter and cuts better.
