played the Fender Supersonic

got a chance to play a couple of those new Fender Supersonic amps. one was the combo, the other was head+4x12 cab. Overall, i thought it was a pretty good amp. the clean channel was pretty good, and i liked to be able to switch between the two clean stylings. the overdrive channel had tons of gain on tap, and i thought it sounded pretty good. the thing is, in all, the amp didnt have any shimmer and harmonics in the cleans. compared to the reissue 59 bassman next to it, the cleans were slightly dull. Didnt have the harmonics and woodiness in the tone that the 59 bassman had, which is what i like to hear when looking for a good amp. i did enjoy the gain channel though, it wasn't too much of an open crunch like a Marshall, but more of a middy sizzle type gain.

overall, it was a nice amp. Had some nice sounds and more than a few tonal options in case you want an amp that will do a couple different sounds. Price wasnt too bad either, but i think these might be a good grab in a year or so when you see them used for a couple hundred $$ off.

Re: played the Fender Supersonic

keep in mind that bassman has jensens & the supersonic has v30's

the tubes in the bassman are also a lot better

I did this very comparison as well. Like you, I played the Fender Super and thought-Hey this doesnt sound that bad, its versatile-but next to it was the reissue Bassman and its clean tone just ate the Super for lunch. The Bassman has a thick, punchy, warm, clean tone that the Super just doesnt have. I dont know how the Reissue Bassman would sound for Jazz with a hollow body guitar but it sure sounds good with a Tele, Strat, or Paul. :beerchug:
