PLEASE HELP - new & confused !

Hi guys, I am new to SD pickups, been playing over 25 years always had Dimarzio or PRS pickups. I have a PRS Modern Eagle II and I am looking for a set of of pickups to better suit my needs. What would be a good set to go for guys, I literally don't know where to start, you start reading the specs and go round in circles. I was tempted to go classic ie JB & Jazz?

I play classic to hard rock. I want a thick dark pickup in the bridge without too much gain and the neck warm without being to wooly. I'm not really a metal player but when I do venture into the area I prefer to use my amps rather than a super hot pickup.

Thanks for any tips guys.

So, mahogany body with a maple top and rosewood fretboard?
Looking for vintage to medium output pickups?
Style: classic to hard rock?

I'll just go ahead and recommend you a set of Whole Lotta Humbuckers. That should be as good an introduction to the Duncan lineup if any.

^^^ what he said!! The whole lotta humbuckers are great all round pickups.

Metal for life!!

Re: PLEASE HELP - new & confused !

I'll add my support for the WLH set.
Duncan's crown jewell set.

Re: PLEASE HELP - new & confused !

Does your MEII have a trem or the wraparound bridge. And what, specifically, don't you like about the pickups in the MEII? It's hard to recommend something without knowing that. From what I understand, the 57/08's are supposed to be pretty nice PAF pickups.

Thanks guys, sounds like the WLH set are a good buy. I know the JB and the Jazz have a certain reputation, what's your thoughts on this set and how does the WLH compare ? My MEII is a trem version, i havnt had the stock 57/08's in there for many years now, I remember just not liking the tone too much, they seemed a bit to tame. I'm looking for something with a little more umph !
