Please help with some Les Paul pickup suggestions

Re: Please help with some Les Paul pickup suggestions

if i were you, i'd invest in learning how to replace the pickup's lead(among other guitar electronics endeavors). it's very cost effective, it's only $1.25/foot of 4 cundoctor at wymoreguitars.com, and a tech will definitely cost alot more than that. if i were to have a tech do as much work as i've done to my guitars, i'd have spent at least $400 by now.

I've also got a set of Shaws, but in my 84 335, and they are definitely mellow, but have a goodly bit of thump which you have already found out can translate into mud in a neck slot.

My knee jerk reaction is to tell you to try a set of Seth Lover. They are going to have a round tone that is smooth, but can be made to quack when required.

I've got an old R8 that has a Seth in the neck and a CS 78 in the bridge that's built with Seth parts. Definitely a great combination if you don't mind spending the cash on the 78.
