Please suggest me some pedals, looking for blues, overdrive and marshal like options

Re: Please suggest me some pedals, looking for blues, overdrive and marshal like opti

Everyone's listing well-known pedals and I certainly don't disagree with those suggestions. But in the "less known" catagory, I have a couple that fit the bill to a tee.

For blues you can't get much better than an old Fender Tweed amp and this pedal emulates it perfectly...the Snarling Dogs Tweed-E-Dog. I just happen to have this for sale right now. If interested PM me.

For all types of rock, the Akai Drive 3 Overdrive is really amazing. So many tones. Comes with the JRC4558 chip and two other replaceable drive chips. All the way from a warm bluesy overdrive to all out Marshally rock. I also have this one for sale.

Check out the Ramble FX Marvel Drive. Also, I love my Mojo Hand FX Rook.

Get something like a Fulltone Plimsoul and Fulldrive II. Then go home and forget about OD's for the rest of your life.

I tried PlimSoul, OCD and the FullDrive2 Mosfet, all three sound super cool and each one has its own falvor, very tasty flavors. Finally I picked the PlimSoul which has both an overdrive and high gain crunch tones, I really liked. The FullDrive2 was so sweet I almost cried when I had to choose just one, hopefully someday I will get it too.

SRV used a fuzzface sometimes too. He also used many amps at a time. Marshall,Fender,Dumble. GC carries Lovepedal also. I know they have a lovepedal called Superlead. This is a Marshall sound. You can set the pedal anyway you like to get a rock, blues,or overdrive sound. Use your volume control on your guitar to get the amount of grind you want. You can get a few different tones this way and all you need is a pedal amp and guitar. This can cover enough ground to get you what you want. They make a COT 50. I think GC sell a LP called AMP50 too.Just not as much gain as the Superlead.

You dont need a special set up to play blues music. Its the style you play not the gear. Some goes for Rock. You can play blues on a 7 string guitar and a bogner uberschall. You can play rock on a tweed. You have got many suggestions. Try out as much gear as you can. Have fun doing it.

This is true... to a point. But its going to be a rare death metal gig that you will convince the audience with your danelectro and tweed 59 with no other gain enhancement. Same thing with playing blues on a high gain rig. Sure dialed back it can but many high gain amps dont sound good dialed back. Its called getting the right tool for the right job. Your volume knob can access you lots of sounds but theres a point where the volume knob is so low that your now drowned out of the mix. My first amp was a Marshall JMP and that was my "clean" channel. Was great other than to actually be "clean" noone could hear me. So like i said. To a point.

Edgecrusher,I get what your saying. I guess what I was trying to say is I dont think there is any cookie cutter set up for different styles of music. Example a tube screamer can be used for more styles than just what SRV played. Believe it or not I saw a thread where a guy was asking what are the best kind of strings for blues music.

For the blues thing, a TS. For me that's an Analogman TS9. So basically a TS808.

The Catalinbread DLS is fantastic for you classic Marshall tones. I use it in Super Bass mode and it really delivers the goods.
