I guess I wouldn't mod a Plexi unless I was "modding" it to be like a specific Plexi model that ran off their line at one particular time.
Marshall wasn't very consistent with caps, resistors, etc. back then, unless my history is horribly incorrect. From my understanding, the more important aspect is aligning the correct pots/resistors/caps/etc. that Marshall handwired at the time for the specific "Plexi" tone you want.
For instance, for Hendrix, you may need one specific alignment, but for early VH, you may require another (aside from the VariAC and 20 watt speakers,, etc.)
