Plug For The Voodoo Amps OT,Cable And Choke!

I have one word that would sum up what I've heard with my amp now after alot of listening today...WOW!

I installed the same MM OT and MM Choke that Trace currently uses in his V Plex series....Here's the tonal results...I thought the O.E.I OT was pretty good but:

One of the coolest things I Noticed right off was that as you rolled back on the volume, you not only got a clean tone, but the highs remained and you got this pretty, chimey, highend that I was used to losing when doing this....Just amazing! This OT and Choke really are "ALL THAT"!

The lows are tight and prominent...More lows overall...

The amp is alot more open sounding and 3D sounding...Almost like the closed back cab has an opening in the back and almost like the amp has reverb....

You hear the wood of the guitar now and it's almost like someone removed a sheet from the front grille cloth of the cabinet...

The amp is alot smoother, alot more articulate, and has nice smooth highs...

I notice my bias voltages stay rock steady where they are set and the millivolt readings on both tubes axcross my 1 ohm cathode resistors are within 1 milliamp of each other...

The amp is quieter....

I Now hear these other cool harmonics coming from my amp that I've never experienced before and sustain is easier to get and the amp is more fluid....

Fluid and faster note attack, but not at all "sterile" or harsh sounding....The amp sounded great before, but I've now experienced an even higher level...

Kudos to Trace Allen....A friend,a great guy,and the products he told me about and sold me on are absolutely phenomenal and dead on as far as what he told me to expect!

Trace thinks I may be pretty close to what he offers with his V Plex series, though I Lack the MM PT.....Later on that though.I'm estatic to say the least!..:bigok:

That confirms my theory that good amps don't need any reverb ;)

I still love reverb with my BF Fender stuff and when playing real clean things..The Marshall doesn't need the reverb though.

Re: Plug For The Voodoo Amps OT,Cable And Choke!

A while back I bought a MM transformer from Trace called the plexi tone clone and replaced the blown transformer in my 5150 to sell as I just bought my dual rectifier. I didnt want to sell the amp after the transformer was replaced as it sounded great. I had to sell it unfortunateley because of lack of funds but still wish I would have kept it.

Yeah sure. But I had the same feeling when I first
played *edit* a Soldano.

The funny thing:
I've just read Mike uses MM trafos in his amps (exept the SLO)... so it's maybe really the OT.

Mine is labeled as a custom MM OT built for Voodoo Amps...The great tone comes from a whole slew of things...
