POD Farm Plug-In

Re: POD Farm Plug-In

Bingo.

The stock tones actually cover a pretty broad range of classic amp styles. You have a couple Fender cleans that take stomp boxes pretty well and allow you to build some good tones. The J-800 does a killer Marshall sound. The Orange, Recto, Vox and Soldano are all capable and have their uses too. A tube screamer paired with any of those models should get you pretty far.

My biggest issue seems to be finding the right amount of distortion. I've noticed what may feel good for playing usually sounds like crap recorded. But if I cut back on distortion it may not "feel" right while playing but provides a much better recording.

I find it's really hard to get a decent heavy tone without a decent amount of gain which is really too bad, from that perspective it really lacks where a real amp doesn't. I find that a lot of the amps, especially the 800 go from having little gain and no sustain, to being way too much gain too fast. I like the orange model a lot as well as the soldano model and plexi models. I've played a lot of 800's and the representation they give it on POD farm for me doesn't come nearly as close as it does for the others

Re: POD Farm Plug-In

I have some basic presets of Marshall/Boogie splits & a couple of JC120/AC30 clean splits, but most of the time I use my XT Live with the metal shop pak installed so I can use my Deizel & Bogner models, then I use a mic pre patch on the Farm.

I use the Farm mostly for vocals, keys, & for micing the acoustic. I've got some bass preset splits in there too for my bass player.
