Pod XT Live

Well, this weekend I picked up the new Pod XT Live. Yesterday I threw down the $50.00 for the high-gain metal pack amps, and after 1 night of tweakin, all I gotta say is...WOW. Im runnin this baby through a BBE 862, Rocktron 120 Velocity PA into 2 Bogner 4x12s and the tones are absolutely death-defying. For $400.00, you couldn`t ask for more, and best of all....I now have a SIMPLE rig. I have been a stone cold Soldano/Rocktron guy for the past 11-12 years, but even the Prophesy has nothing on this little jem. Hell, this thing has a virtual SLO 100 built into it, and Im tellin ya, I cant really tell the difference. Truly Impressive.... and I haven`t even scratched the surface w/ this thing. For all of you fellow tonewhores, this may be the best little investment you could make. To top it off, you plug this thing into your puter via USB cable and wallah....your wired in to a huge POD/ Line6 community w/ endless possibilities, tones, and just about whatever you can imagine. Technology just amazes me to no end. Guys, this box is a winner. :)

Re: Pod XT Live

Glad you found a way to find your tone. :burnout: Line6 products are simply amazing. Have fun with it!

Re: Pod XT Live

If i hadn't got a fully upgraded vetta II(has same effects plus all the additional packages) i would get one myself. Line 6 rocks!

Re: Pod XT Live

I am also super impressed with the sound of the XT series. I think Line6 has finally figured this thing out. Nice to hear the Live is just as good.

I am currently trying to get my PodXT to work for me live. I will have to check that Rocktron power amp out.

Re: Pod XT Live

I have one xt live and with the metal pack on it sounds amazing using headphones and with a fender hot rod deluxe, you have to tweak but you can achive very great tones clean and distorted.

Re: Pod XT Live

I dont know if the XT Live is improved, but my XT dont sound like my SLO-100. It sounds good, but they are definitely not the same.

Glad you found a set up that works for you, though. :)

Re: Pod XT Live

You its not the same, but it sounds pretty similar, maye next week i´ll throw up the 400 bucks for the Xt live... and the later for the whole preamps package...
damn it sounds great, but i´m still a Boss fan and lover !!!!

Re: Pod XT Live

yeah, i have one & friggin LOVE it

the dual recto model is just...great

actually all i use is the dual recto & all the effects, minus my duane eddy & blues/rockabilly presets, but i don't use those live

Re: Pod XT Live

My all-time favorite tone for the most part, has always been Ed`s "brown sound" & to me, VH2 & Women&Children First are as big and brown as they got. This box has a 5150 II head programmed in it, every stomp box ever made for the most part, including the the infamous MXR Phaser. I may have done 8-10 mins of tweaking, through in some spring reverb, and boom, you got Ed`s old sound. Never in a million years would i have thought anything w/out tubes( exspensive modded Marshall ) could of got ya close to his tone. I was wrong.

Try the Plexi Variac model for the early EVH tone. I love that model. That's what he used back then - the 5150 wasn't until much later.

Re: Pod XT Live

I think the Soldano model is my favorite amp in the XTL, followed by the Matchless.

I'm not a big fan of Fender, but I made a pretty cool Tweed patch that I use frequently.

I also use the Pink Floyd sample (modified, of course ;) ) "Run Like Hell". It's pretty good as well.

Re: Pod XT Live

i love the Variac model, but i wish i could hear the Criminal amp i think is the 5150 model.
