POD XT Live

Re: POD XT Live

Vetta and Vetta 2 are the same thing. Vetta 2 added the I/O board but otherwise, same thing.

Re: POD XT Live

I love my xt although I got it way before the XT live came out and I wish I had bought the xtlive, I have the bass models and they sound friggin awesome...used my xt to play bass at church and the first day got 3 compliments on my sound. (needless to say that covered up for my crappy playing) check out my soundclick page and hear the pod in action.

Re: POD XT Live

I had one for about 7 months or so. Loved it through my rig at the time. I was running a Sovtek Mig-60 through an avatar cab with the POD in front. It made some great tones. But the complexity got to me. I didn't want to invest the time to get exactly what i wanted other than amp modeling, delay, and reverb (which it was good for). Im sure with further use and invested time it would be good. It was great for recording honestly.

One issue is the firmware and the drivers. The little buggers are inpossible to fix when a computer issue arrises. I used the software with it for about a month and LOVED it. The minute i tried using it on my laptop instead of the desktop i was using. DEAD.. the thing would never connect to a computer again. I read some articles that said the firmware could be fixed by a tech at line 6 for a charge. I wasn't too down with that.

But like i said, for recording and amp modeling and quick delay it great, but you could get a better sound and more bang for the buck with other routes.

P.S for bass players. The amp modeling on the the bass XT is AMAZING. turned a friends bassman to an ampeg with a HUGE sound. i seriously was blown away

Re: POD XT Live

I've owned PODs since they came out. The only computer issue I ever had was with the original POD and the MIDI interface on the Sound Blaster I had at the time. Got an external and everything was cool.

I use the xt/Live with my notebook PC often, no problems there. The only criticism I have is that it is a USB 1.x device, it doesn't support the 2.0 throughput.

Your notebook was usb1.x or the pod doesn't support usb 2.0? I'm confused.

Re: POD XT Live

On MF website it says you can only use banks 1-8 for studio recording. Is it possible to use the others?

Re: POD XT Live

I meant simply that the data transmission speed is slow, it only works at USB 1.1 level. It'll WORK fine with USB 2.0 but only at 1.1 speeds. This can contribute to latency issues when recording audio through the USB interface.

You can use any bank for anything. The way it comes stock, 1-8 are full-on amp sims, and the rest are effects only/Variax patches, but you can overwrite any of them.

I guess a way around the latency issue would be to connect to a sound card.
Thanks cool you can overwrite the presets, I would probably want to do that anyway. Thanks!

Re: POD XT Live

I'll check the GT8 out too. Isn't more $$$?
Thanks!

Might be, haven't checked lately. The XT is great for quick setup of sounds. THe Range of the GT series is bigger, with a lot more options, but you have to work to get them. It just depends on the kind of player you are.

Mais, what???!?!???

I used my own presets in ALL of the tracks I've posted (no, there weren't many, but one clip was three guitar tracks).
