Re: PODxt Live

through a SS amp, they are buzzy and undynamic. through my Rivera tube combo, def better. Through the Atomic reactor, quite good..warms up and gets a little dynamic. (though still a little buzzy/digital sounding at times)

They are the only modeller I've heard that actually got the Marshall models voiced correctly. Not as warm as the VOX and not as versatile as the BOSS/Roland stuff, but plenty versatile for me, and more importantly the voicings are correct. Effects are good, but nothing extraordinary. Some are better than others. Very intuitive interface. Takes some serious tweaking and sometimes you need to do things in an unconventional way compared to how you tweak the real thing (i.e. the amp/cab you are modelling).

Overall, very cool product. Nothing like the real thing(s), it's a computer...not an amp... but def worth the $.

Re: PODxt Live

thanks for the reply, jeffb, hmm, well my idea for running it through an SS, was pretty much just to use the SS as a PA, just a means to broadcast the sound. and the amp itself, esp. on clean, is not buzzy at all, so maybe that'll help a little but. do you have any suggestions for a better one, maybe? im more into the distortions and such. thanks!

Re: PODxt Live

+1 for modellers through valve amps. I put my V-amp through the power section of my fender SS, and it's ok... but it's nothing compared to putting it through the clean channel of a Marshall half stack :D Also, the Atomic thing seems to get good reviews from most people I've asked. Fair enough, it's not the best idea if you're just rehearshing in your bedroom, but valves DO make a difference to the sound.

Re: PODxt Live

hmm, well i did use the search function and found some info. does anyone have an idea of something better? i've actually read that the podxtLive works great for SS amps. i dont reall care about the cab models, i primarily want a ton of effects, lots of distortion and such. $400 now, can save me a ton of $$ on pedals and stuff. i'll upgrade the amp in the future. is there a better modelor out there? thanks guys.

Re: PODxt Live

I would NOT use it thru anything less than a tube power amp to say the least. I LOVE my XT LIVE, however, I do not like the output mode selector. I much prefer the original POD XT, but the price of the XT live and its convenience makes up for it in live situations.
