pole spacing on single coil teh same as p-90?

another question for you all. is the pole spacing on a SD singlecoil (i.e. the SSL 1, the same as the pole spacing on a p-90 so that one coudl (if he so desired) glue a singleciol into the cover of a p-90 dogear?

i'm looking for that singlecoil tone out of a p-90 routed guitar

^^ Snow, I don´t see any pole spacing measurements....

One could downsize the drawing to the proper scale and take measurements then from teh drawing, but technical drawings often carry no guarantee of their true to scale proportions.....

Either way, never tried it but I´m thinking it could work. You may have to widen the holes a hair though depending on how far off the spacing really is...

I didn't look that closely, sorry! I just measured my Fralin p-90's and the distance between poles is 5mm, while my ssl-5's look like 4mm. You could make it work.

Kind of a cool idea you have there! I've heard many guitarists claim they would love a P90 tone in a standard strat sized pickup. But this is the first time I've heard the opposite mentioned!

Get some weaker P90's (like in the 5K range), strip some of the windings, stick some seriously demagged or smaller magnets in there...

Hey Blueline-Zhangliqun makes a rod-mag P-90 that I think would do the trick for you. You can have him wind it to whatever you want and it will have that strat-like top end so it will be more like a hybrid between a strat and a P90. That'll give you the string spacing your looking for as well. You might PM him on it-he's been a great help to me and hes got great prices as well-
