Re: Poll: Favorite Tele model, and why.

Although not technically a Fender , this modified Squier Affinity Butterscotch model which I bought a few months ago , is a player . Even though I get a monthly pension from the Navy , I still have bills to pay, etc, so I have to watch my spending nowadays , so this was all I could afford. When I got it , the stock saddles on the bridge made restringing a real pain in the ass , so I replaced the whole bridge with a Gold plated , all steel top loader which came with the more conventional Tele classic 3 barrel saddle design. Restringing in much easier now and the saddles add more sustain . Once I did that, I got carried away and decided to just redo the whole thing from top to bottom. I added a Sprague .047 Orange cap on the tone pot, copper shielding tape in the control and pup cavities, Duncan design TE-101B pup in the bridge position w/ some foam rubber underneath to eliminate feedback , rubber tubing on the pup screws , Fender " F " logo neck plate , Fender Tele 1950's design waterslide headstock decal , 1950's design Tele String Tree, and Fender Red toriseshell pickguard. It has now become My No#1 go to guitar which I would not part with for anything . But if I could afford it, I would buy a Fender American Tele Special in a heartbeat.
