Okay, to be quite honest, I thought about this as a idea for a 15" speaker that I had no cabinet for.
I am thinking of fiberfill insulations, and a bead of silicone, and for the bottom, I ain;t sure.
Ladies and gentelgerms, I present.. MetalManiacs DIY 3l Cheapo 15" cabinet/.

The cool thing about this therom is that, in erm, in thoery, you can fit a tire size to any speaker. I am BRILLIANT!~

You can't tell me this isn't viable for thrird world, or even lots of us! Fiberfill well insulated inside the tire.

That is such a freaking tasteless, dumba$$, redneck idea. :chairshot

Okay, my first statement was a lie. I admit... I LOVE IT. I would so play the $#!+ out of that thing if it was part of my rig! :yourock::banana::notworthy:headbang:

Definitely voting a "number 3."

Re: POll. New Every-Man's Speaker Cabinet idea?

The big question is: How does it sound? Is it open back, or do you fit a baffle to the other side of the tire? Or do you somehow mount it to the rim with a fully inflated tire?
If you use a flat, is it automatically considered ported?

Yup. I haven't figured out what to do with the open bottom for a seaker design to be closed back. It *might work might with an open back installation. Maybe someone can suggest an idea., besides floor placement with teh speaker pointed up, for q clsoed back installation. THIS >>IS>>HUGE!!! Thank you Duncan, you have given me so much, now I need to give back.

This abandonment of my ideal here today by people and even some of my so called 'friends'..I'll remember, trust that..I'll remember who wouldn't support my conception of my idea where everyone can have a good sound for even a cheap price.

Too busy checking patents on it :D

Try mounting it from the other side? That way you get more "bounce" to the tone. Front-mounted might make the tone a bit flat. Maybe center-suspension would give it a more round tone?

99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer, post once more, fall on the floor, no more bottles of beer on the wall

Re: POll. New Every-Man's Speaker Cabinet idea?

Can you get it in a whitewall? I understand that whitewalls have a bit snappier tone.

Re: POll. New Every-Man's Speaker Cabinet idea?

Do you have a snow tire cab for us guys in New England?

Re: POll. New Every-Man's Speaker Cabinet idea?

You'll probably need more internal volume ... stack another tire (or two) behind the baffle tire. Design a spinner grill. Hang it on the wall, that'll seal the back. Then build a bunch of them and design a switching system so you can run them as singles, doubles, quads ... etc. Design the music room with a garage or related theme and name it accordingly ...

Don't say I never helped you with anything.

Re: POll. New Every-Man's Speaker Cabinet idea?
