What kind of wah does everyone here like? or hate?
what are the best features when it comes to these 3 brands of wahs: Sweep, Vocal quality, simply the fact that some come stock with a true bypass..etc? I'm looking for a good wah for a 5150.
Thanks

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

ived used them all and the all sound different. didnt really like the morleys tone
my suggestion is to try a few and see what you like. i think the vox is a good one and has a little warmer tone than the crybaby with most amps

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

i've got a morley bad horsie 2, i like the switchless feature, but am thinking about getting a crybaby just to have the more classic wah sound, the morley is too modern sounding for me.

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

I used to have a crybaby 535Q, but i didn't like it with my 5150 combo. i don't know if it was because of the high gain or what, but it just went from a low hiss to a high hiss. there was dial on the side for selecting the sweep too, but it didn't have a big enough sweep, and it didn't really say WAH when you rocked your foot back and forth. on a sidenote, does the pickup you use with a wah matter as much as the wah itself and the amp?

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

Ive tried my VOX (so perhaps im biased), my mates Crybaby and my other mates Vwah (by boss???). I found the VOX and the Crybaby to be fairly similar, but im pretty sure my VOX had more 'travel' when rocking forwards. The Vwah is a new fangled digital one and had loads of options, with distortions and different wah modes, but i found it to not sound as natural as the crybaby or VOX.

Im not sure which type of crybaby my friends was as i believe there are many variations, but my VOX is a V847.

I really like the Vox 847 right out of the box stock...On mine,I went with a fulltone inductor and fulltone pot and did the true bypass mod and some circuit tweaks...Now my 847 sounds really good..My buddy liked my modded 847 better than his more expensive Buddah wah which I Liked alot also..I Prefer the Vox over the CryBaby because I feel the Vox is more vocal and the pedal is looser and easier to move...The Vox looks cool too...I've not used any of the Morley pedals and so I can't comment on them?

I feel the same way about the VOX. It's a great pedal stock, but you can squeeze so much tone out of that thing with a few simple mods.

I used to have a crybaby, long story why i dont any more...

I liked it a lot :)

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

I had one of those original metal Morely Power Wah boosts from the late 70's early 80's and didn't like it. I liked the boost feature for solos, but the tone was marginal and the wah sweep was either all in or out. It worked by a little flap covering and uncovering an optoelectronic sensor. So there was no good way to control the sweep.

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

I have not used a morely all that much but, I bought the crybaby and hated it. I thought it was noisy and thought it colored the tone badly. I took it back after 3 days and got the vox. I have no complaints with the vox.

Re: Poll: Vox, Crybaby or Morley wahs?

Just picked up the Crybaby Classic, Sounds great clean and with high gain. Very quiet has True Bypass and uses the Fasel Inductor. This bumped my Modified Vox V847, Another nice wah but doesnt have as much sweep as the Crybaby.

Morely's tremonti Power Wah is also descent if your into switchless design!
