POLL You guys decide the last speakers for my cabinet.

I'm having a hard time deciding on what I want to finish loading my Marshall cab(JCM 900 60A) with. I've got 2 G12H30's in it, but I'm not sure what I want to pair them up with. I'm going for a 70's rock/80's hair metal vibe. Currently my DSL 50 is sitting on top of this cab, but that's always subject to change. Since I can't decide, you decide for me.

I'd like to keep them all Celestions. I know Eminence, Warehouse, etc.... make good speakers, but I'd like to stay w/in the same brand.

I was leaning this direction mainly because I'm planning on taking 2 of the V30's out of my Recto cab and replacing them w/ G12T-75s. I just wasn't sure how they would work out tonally w/ the H30's.

If you've got extra cabs sitting around, it's always easier and cheaper to mix'n'match what you have.

V30/H30 is a popular set. A bit smoother and warmer than the more edgy V30/G12T-75.......being crunchier in the highs.

This is very true. I got to play my Triple Rectifier through and Engl cab that is almost identical in construction and size to my Mesa cab, but it had the V30 and 75's in an X pattern and it's uh VERY fitting for that amp. It's a lot punchier and less buzzy grindy tone.

Once I get this Marshall cab loaded up how I want it, I need to work on my Avatar 4x12 that has Carvin labeled Eminence Legends in it. It sounds alright currently, but I like to tinker lol. That and I really want to try the Celestion Lynchbacks. Then I have to find some 1x12 cubes to run w/ my rack and I'll probably look for another 2x12 cabinet once I convert my Blue Angel from a combo to a head.

Lots of work to be done.

I do not like Vintage 30s alone as I find them to be a bit nasal. However, in conjunction with other speakers (Celestion G12H-80s in my case) that nasal bump in the midrange really can add a nice bit of definition and crunch to other speakers while the other speakers even out said nasal bump.

V30s in conjunction with other Celestions is usually a good way to go.

The DSL pairs best with Greenbacks in my book.
