Any insight as to why that is would be just love-ly  I've only so far done the 59n so I don't have much input.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

They're all great, but I voted Jazz. It works well with pretty much any bridge pup you can think of.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

JB. Smooth and singing, and sounds almost like a Strat when split ;)

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

Overall, I like the alnico 2 Seth Lover N or Antiquity N best of all. Then the alnico 5 Jazz N. I also like the alnico 4 7.5K Lindy Fralin neck humbucker alot...it's almost as bright and clean as a Strat pickup but much ballsier.

I like the Seth or Antiquity because I can get a clearer, less woofy tone...less bass.

I like the Seth better than the Antiquity sometimes because it's fuller and fatter sounding...I like the Antiquity better than the Seth because it's NOT so full sounding and has a more hollow tone with more texture. OBVIOUSLY I LIKE THEM BOTH!

I'm a Tele/Strat guy at heart and most neck humbuckers sound to bassy and muddy to me...the Seth, Antiquity, Jazz and Fralin 7.5K sound much clearer to me than most neck humbuckers.

My vote for the '59. I love the extra *thump* it seems to provide, and just the sound of the pup in general. Seems to work REALLY well for my style of playing.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

I have tried about 1/2 of those. If I only had one, it would be the 59n for sure.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

hmm, mine i dont really ahve one favorite one i like alot of them actually, but the one i use the most nowadays is the paf pro and the humbucker from hell.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

pgn is my favorite. been using it for years and it never lets me down

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

I can't believe I'm the only one voting Demon! :(
Oh well, I kinda think it gives me the open Paf like tone of the '59, the singing leads, clean ups and articulation of the jazz, yet a little more rudeness and output. Kinda perfect for me, everything I like about those shreddy DiMarzio pups are owned by this pick up, huge picking attack, smooth leads and superharmonics. But I'm still checking out other Duncans, though I don't think they'll beat this baby easilly ;-)

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

I have used the '59n and PGn religiously for years.

Always had a problem with them being a bit too bassy; although they both sound good by themselves, the amp EQ that favors them makes the bridge sound a bit shrill.

Just ordered a Jazz neck (with nickel cover) and it arrived today. Will install it tomorrow in SG #1.

Can't wait!

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

alnico 2 pro...

smooth, mellow...butter!!!

i'd love to try a jazz though...gotta put one of those in my next axe with an hb neck!!!

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

From this site: Pearly Gates™ pickups were wound for the famous '59 Les Paul® Standard that defined the raw, rebellious sound of Texas blues rock. Essentially a variation on the Patent Applied For sound, the Pearly Gates sound is sweet, but slightly rude, with great sustain and a bright top that make harmonics jump out of the guitar.

Although it's the only Duncan neck pick-up I've experienced, it works just fine for me!!! :beerchug:

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

I like the Seth Lovers and the 59 for my Gibsons

And Full Shred for my lovely B.C Rich IronBirds.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

Do they still make the Full Shred? I can't find them any where lately.

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

I picked AP II. Like Hoss said, smooth and mellow like butter. Beautiful cleans. It's the only neck pup I've tried so far. I'm going to swap in into my LP to see how it does 'cause a new Jazz is going into my MIJ Jackson.

Yep ... there were rumours flying about saying that SD was no longer doiong this pup ... but that's bogus IMO ... SD hasn't said anything like that and if they do ...

Woe'be'tide

'59 was my resolute answer to the question at hand though

Re: Poll: Your Favorite Neck Humbucker!

It's a tough call, but i picked the Alnico II Pro (my second choice for other reasons would be the Pearly gates), haven't tried them all of course ... even though it kinda flies in the face of common convention ( of putting a brighter pup in the neck vs the bridge), I like the smooth high end of the Alnico II Pro, and something in it's mids makes it just perfectly vocal sounding (to me anyway), plus I like a warmer neck sound compared to a lot of people, a brighter bridge pup as long as it's got the lows and mids I want, I can warm it up a bit. The PG is nice for the opposite reasons, nice sparkle, clear, but with a bit of mid bite ... cuts nice, and doesn't get lost. Both have a nice balance of the bass also ... not to much, not to little ... it just balances well to me ... given the choice i'd have to take the Alnico II Pro, the PG might be a bit more versatile (maybe), but there is something I just dig about the other in almost any body wood. :fing2:
