Listing a favorite is tough as I have several depending on my mood and the guitar it resides in! Here are a few in no particular order. 1. Seth Lover...pure, blusey joy! A great open, yet woody tone. Very responsive to your touch. 2. SK Dualtone ll. One coil wound like a P-90, the other coil like a vintage strat. P-90, PAF and killer strat tones available at the touch of a mini on-on-on switch. A killer pickup. 3. Lollar Imperial Humbucker. This may be my fav of all. A stunning, open...almost single coil sounding bucker. Beautiful. 4. Duncan Antiquity.....see Seth with a bit of smoke added.

so so so close for me between the AIIP and the 4-wire 59n .. i leaned (51-49) to the AIIP

both are so wonderful .. and i need a les paul style heritage someday and i am guessing i'll put a jazz in it .. and a heritage 535 will get a seth someday too

has noone tryed the king of all dimarzio shreding neck pickups? the airnorton is my faveorite neck humbucker. super clear but still warm. makes you sound so good at guitar its not even funny......its kinda sad actually.

I picked the Invader - obviously. I think it's a killer neck Pu as it's got hot temper but it's also very balanced. Works perfectly to me with and Invader bridge in a Strat. Pure balls. Not muddy at all in the neck. Just hot, not muddy, and solos really cut.
anyway I'm a big fan of the Air Norton in the neck position. It just sings and delivers a musically bassy jazzy tone.

for strat with floyde rose? full shred neck. its res peak is 8.00 so it can sound pretty close to a single coil strat when split and full? it sounds very bluesy without being too basey. distorted it sounds orgasmic. it can be smooth and fat or rough and gainey. for a strat with floyde tone arm its by far my favorite . for strat with standerd trem? I like pearly gates neck for much the same reasons. clean and split it still has sparkle, clean and full it can sound jazzy, distorted it sounds fat and bluesey but not to basey.

YES!YES!YES! Finally! I was wondering why noone mentioned the Air Norton. Hands down my favorite neck pickup. Nothing else comes close.

I voted Jazz. Its got all the clarity and sparkle of a good single coil but has that humbucker power to it and its real versatile. First time I heard one in the neck of an alder strat i almost wet myself :32:

'59s have good tone but are too weak in the output department for me.

I also like PAF Pros and Evolutions in the neck as well. They've got many of the JB's qualities but progressively fatter and more output with bumped mids.

For Duncans, I'd say a '59 is my favorite neck pup in just about any guitar. For EMGs, I prefer a 60 or 81. For DiMarzios, a Super 2.
