I have the '59, Pearly Gates, Alnico II, Jazz, Distortion & the Invader neck pups. ..But my favorites are the Pearly Gates for a smooth-singing-tone w/sweet harmonics & the Jazz for a '59-style-like-tone but w/more clarity & less bass(to mush things up).

The jazz has the best humbucker clean I've ever heard. With od or Dist. It sound good as well. So does a 59 but when a bass player says "it's everything a neck pup should be" you know you've stumbled onto something.

Currently, mine is the Humbucker From Hell.....simply awesome single coil like sounds in a Les Paul type guitar. I'm tempted to try the Full Shred neck though....with a Demon in the bridge.

My favorite would be a nice alnico 5 Strat pickup like the Antiquity II Surfer, SSL-1 or Fralin Vintage Hot. Doesn't even depend on the guitar.

My choice for a neck humbucker would very much depend on the guitar!

I like the Pearly Gates, Antiquity, Seth Lover, 59N and Jazz N. And I would make my final choice only after some experimentation and trial and error.

Generally though, alncio 5 59N and Jazz N pickups sound particularly good in guitars like Gibson SG's...thin bodied guitars with long necks that lack deep bass and whose natural resonance accentuates the twangy mids and treble. Alnico 5 buckers tend to have more bass and are a real plus in guitars that lack bass.

i like a lot of pickups, but i simply love the stock dimarzio evolution in my Ibanez Jem. it simply rocks

i voted jazz. im new to humbuckers, i installed a jazz neck and a pearly gates bridge in my toro, they are both amazing. the jazz is clean and warm, the highs are LOUD. a fun pup for noodling.

There's several of those that I've never tried, (Seth's, PG's, A2P's, etc.), and up until 20 minutes ago, I would've said the 59, hands down . . . but . . . I just put a Distortion neck in . . . and its killer! :laugh2:

Great body and definition. Nice "spank". Full and rich.

(Yes . . . I'm still talking abut a pup.) :laugh2:

i have installed a 59n, DM Paf Pro and Air Norton, and finally the jazz in my guitars.
love that sweet cristal clean it gives, and the articulation it gives to a distorted sound...

i have tried it on mahogany and basswood guitars (HH) with a trembucker jb and a tb distortion (have to try it with a custom....can´t wait)

i think this pup is ready to match with any bridge bucker, ceramic or alnico5...

I haven't tried a duncan neck humbucker yet, but I have a APH-1n that I'll be trying in a strat soon...but so far, the Air Norton would have to my favorite neck HB...I have one in my JPM and it kicks ass! It just sounds so good for leads...

Full Shred ~ most underrated Duncan neck PU. Match it with a Allen Holdsworth (AH-1) and you've got unbeatable articulate shredding.

PRS Dragon 1 is my fav hot blues neck PU.

Benedetto PAF for a Tele for sure.

Voodoo '60(A3) or Jimmy Page Custom Shop for a LP depending on the wiring.

Still not decided on the Bear Knuckle Stormy Monday.
