Pop Metal/Metallic RnB demo.

Re: Pop Metal/Metallic RnB demo.

Kind of reminds me of Eve 6. Nice mix and professional playing and production.

Cheers mate! It probably just needs some automation between the soft and loud parts, a few tweaks of the lyrics and I can do a way better job of some of those high notes and it will be good to go.

Re: Pop Metal/Metallic RnB demo.

its hard for me to hear the vocals, doesn't seem like they're loud enough in the mix, lot of guitar layers to be heard over but it sounds pretty cool

You're probably right. I think I instinctively mixed it the way I would a typical metal track in which the vocals are more or less another instrument as opposed to other rock styles where the vocals are front and center so I'll keep that in mind.

My mongrel singing accent probably doesn't help (don't ask why, I honestly don't know but if you think that's bad, you should hear James Reyne's post Australian Crawl stuff) :P. There's currently no automation on the guitars and drums which I intend to add to make it more dynamic and that will probably help the vocals come through a little clearer.

I agree. The listener needs to hear more vocals to hear what story, etc the group is trying to tell in the song. Sounds good though.

Re: Pop Metal/Metallic RnB demo.

Vocals are too far back in the mix.
....sounds like the guitarist did the mixing ;)
good stuff tho.

Re: Pop Metal/Metallic RnB demo.

I am primarily a guitarist, but I did play all the other instruments (and singing). I just moved house so I'm in the process of putting my studio back together. How much louder do you think the vocals need to be? Way louder, or just a touch? I think if I automate some of the instruments to be softer in the quiter parts and then the vocals to be louder in the harder parts it should be A-okay.
