popping crackling noise after new pickup

I have a Godin SD..Strat like..with 2 single coils and a bridge humbucker..all SD
A friend gave me a neck Fender noiseless pickup. After installing it, I'm now getting a crackling, popping noise..doesn't matter if I touch the guitar or not. Even tried a different amp...same issue. I'm waiting for a SD custom custom trembucker bridge to arrive, but I'd like to figure this issue out before I install the new SD. All grounds go to one pot..bridge ground is OK. Guitar was dead quiet untill I installed this pick up. Any thoughts?

The pup has an intermittent short in it

Re: popping crackling noise after new pickup

Wouldn't an intermittent short also affect the sound from said pickup? I get no drop out..no change in the sound..and it's intermittent..approx. every 5 seconds. Sounds more like an old capacitor when it begins to fail.
Could you tell me what the resistance of this PU should be? That might help determine if it is , indeed, defective.

***update*** I removed the Noiseless with the intermittent short, and re-installed my original SD single coil..no more crackling..(thank you). I went and ordered a SD Trembucker TB5 bridge. The sales guy mentioned that since it's a 4 cable PU, I could do something cool like adding a mini switch, and splitting the PU since it's in the bridge position. Is this worth doing? ...and if so..how would I wire it? Thanks for all your help...this is a great resource site.
