Position 4 weak and ice-picky

I installed an SSL-1 rwrp in the middle position of my Squier Strat, with a Dimarzio DP401 neck and JB/A2 in the bridge.
Now position 4 is quieter, weaker, and very piercing in the highs.
Before I was running the stock Squier ceramic in the middle, and it worked fine.
The other positions work and sound great, 4 is the only one I'm having an issue with. Is it a phase issue with the DM vs SD pickups? I thought I'd run it by you guys before I open it back up and start switching wires.

yes, sounds like its out of phase. did the stock pup sound ok with the jb? if the jb and ssl2 sound good in the notch position then id flip the hot and ground of the dimarzio and you should be good

Is the dp401 autosplitting in pos 4?

Switched the hot and ground on the DP401 and solved the issue. Thanks!

Whenever you combine a higher output pickup with a lower one, the sound moves closer to the lower output one.

This is why there are some guys that put a lower powered middle pickup in.

And also why 3 of the same pickups is the strat formula.
