Possible NGD tomorrow - but first your thoughts!

Re: Possible NGD tomorrow - but first your thoughts!

Congrats Bro!!!! I have an EPI 60s Tribute and I bought it with the intention of changing pups.. (comes with Gibsons) I cant bring myself to change em and that guitar is one of my favorite to play.. Feels good, sounds good, plays good.. Total win! Especially considering the price I got it for...

I'm sorry for the crappy pics, but I do not have a good camera at my disposal. I just cannot get the flame top in the LP right, but oh well.
Here they are!

It's actually waaay more striking and defined in person:

It's such a great guitar! The Probuckers sound very fat and thick. The neck pickup is fantastic, bold yet balanced.
I'm still not sure about the bridge pickup, but it's far from bad. I just have to get used to it.
Very easy to play as well. The tech did a great job with the nut and with the overall setup. Just wonderful.
My Ibanez SZ sounds way more attacking and defined in comparison; I'll definitely set the Ibanez for downtuning and the LP will remain in E for now.

And my Strat... oh man. First time I've ever had it playing like butter. This one went through major surgery; the neck angle was reset, the nut refiled and the frets rectified and crowned. It's almost too easy to play now, to the point where I'm adjusting my technique because I was picking and playing it very hard in the past. Not anymore. And it stays in tune so well! Oh my God.

I could explode of joy right now.

Re: Possible NGD tomorrow - but first your thoughts!

Thanks!!

Sadly I might have not checked well from the guitar tech shop or something because I was too swoony - but the A string was crazy flat intonation-wise and the saddle couldn't be moved any closer to the pickups.
Replaced it with a .42 (was a .36) so now it's spot on, and also the high E and G were a bit off but I fixed it real quick. The tech did an excellent job with the nut so I'm not complaining, but I'll let him know.

I also raised a bit and tweaked the polepieces here and there. These pickups are Alnico II and very much vintage-based, so they sound fat, warm and thick.
But I wanted a bit more grit and I got it now. I think these pickups could well be keepers.

Still, I'm in the honeymoon phase -loving the **** out of it- and I'll write a proper review in a couple of weeks!

Thank you guys! :D
