Possible Problems With 5150 head.

how are yah?
long time i dont post here right?!
today, i was playing at home with my peavey 5150 head, and it suddenly turned OFF.
i was checking the No break, but it was OK
and then i realized that THE fuse was ****ed up
then i changed it
what do you think it could be the problem?
Plus.. i opened it´s back, and i was checking, None of the five PREAMP tubes ARE GLOWING.
but the distortion is still good.
i´m not sure if it is just my imagination but, two things took care of my attention
one of the preamp tubes was a little bit less tight than the rest, and maybe, MAYBE, the highs are a little bit LESS proeminent.

doyou guys have any clue of whats going on with my amp?
the four POWER TUBES(SOVTEKS. ) aRE Glowing OK.
But, the 5 preamp tubes, Electro Harmonix, Aren´t glowing AT ALL.
are they supposed to GLOW or not?!

strange.... could of been a bad fuse... may of been a spike of voltage coming into your amp from the wall plug that blew the fuse.... and yes i assume there could be something not quite right in the amp...

i'm not that great dealing with amp issues.... but i think i remember someone saying in the 5150 1 of the 5 tubes only really glows slightly brighter when you use the lead channel.. could be wrong...

You may have had some dirty power or a surge, might wanna have a tech look at it. You might wanna invest in a surge protector for your amp in the future, it will save it from bad electrical gremlins coming from the outlet.

I´m using it with a NO BREAK that also transforms energy from 110 to 220. since my amp is 110,and my voltage here in brazil is 220.
the no break is 1200kva

Some pre-amp tubes are built in such a way that you can't really see the heater filament glow.

Q
