Post your current board

Re: Post your current board

i have a nice sexy boutique pedal filled board with lava cables and power supply and buffers etc. But for my last dozen or so gigs, all ive been using is my 22watt Fender Princeton II amp and this home made (based on a tubescreamer circuit) overdrive pedal. Depending on the requirements of the gig, its either always on and i control my gain using the volume on my guitar, or i run the amp at slight breakup and switch the pedal on for a lead boost. Depending on how much the amp is breaking up, i set the output volume or the gain accordingly. The switch lets me trim the amount of bass to work with the amp so things feel right at whatever volume or gain im using. Its the next best thing to no pedals at all, but it allows me to get the right amount of gain and saturation at any volume level whereas just using the amp alone means i need to crank it to get the right feel - and often that is just too loud for the venue.

I play a Tube Screamer into a Pro Jr. a Lot. Classic tones.

That's a V845 Vox wah, SD Tweak Fuzz, Maleiko Comp, Phase 90, Fulltone Plimsoul, PC Tim, Akai analog delay, Line 6 M5, then the TCElectronics Ditto looper.

The ditto, fuzz, and wah stay off the board because I don't always take them out to gigs or sessions.

This is a great time to plug the M5, I'm a huge fan of this thing. They're only $130 right now, and that worth it for just the delays and verbs. The filter effects are really inspiring and super usable for crazy synth sounds. Highly recommended!!!!

How's that Blackstar? I've been wanting to try one, but I never see them stocked anywhere.

It's excellent. I tried about a dozen different pedals before settling on the Blackstar. It feels more like extra amp channels than a pedal and works really well in front of my JTM45.

Re: Post your current board

Can I borrow your Timmy settings? :D

thats about the same as my settings although my volume is a touch higher

How does the pickup booster work with low output humbuckers? What can I expect?

the pup booster works well with low output buckers. when you click it on youll get your preset amount of boost and a touch more high end clarity from the buffer. i dont use the reso switches and havent for so long i couldnt tell ya how much i like em

It's the "Mo' Bettah" pedal. It takes whatever you have and gives you more. And better.

Which Crybaby do you use? I like the Vox wah myself.

That wah is just a regular Crybaby. I also have a Mister Crybaby which has a volume control. I use that a lot as well but it's not on the board at the moment. I also have a Morley and Ernie Ball. But I like the Crybabies the best.

Would you say the difference between them would be very noticeable under moderate gain on a record?

Re: Post your current board

This is my finished board in all of it's glory, I don't think I'd change a thing at this time, but you never know:

So I downsized:

I got a Pedaltrain Nano today. Went out and got a can of spray paint and went to town on that bad boy. Now it's all finished and I love it. I've been using this setup on a PT-1 for the last week, it's nice to finally ditch the big board for this band. I've got all I need for my band on this board. I also have a RMC Wheels of Fire wah I run off the side and an expression pedal for the INFANEM.

I also mocked this up just for fun before I put velcro down. Now I want another Nano just for this board lol:

Re: Post your current board

I recently got a PT-1 and mounted my Pedal Power on the bottom, then laid out every pedal I own and tried (perversely) to see how many I could fit into the available space. This is the "kitchen sink" setup I ended up with:

Once I had all my favorites laid out in this setup (plus a few oddballs), I was more easily able to decide which of these I am actually better off without. I am going to set up a more focused board using about half of these pedals eventually.

Most days I am happy using just the EP Booster into the amp.

Finally found the space for all pedals. The trick was to magically jam the EP booster in there (fits perfectly!).

Re: Post your current board

My man Tor! Great board. Can you please explain for me the aux switches in the lower left corner? It looks like a Disaster Area DMC-3 + Rotary Encoder for the Timeline, a tap tempo for the Semaphore and one additional one? If you'd be so kind as to explain how you're using them I'd be most appreciative! :)

You're right on the DMC-3. The lower middle pedal is a "favorite" switch for the WET using the expression controls on the back. The mini expression controls the Semaphore and the tap (or whatever the function may be, but my guess is tap) is plugged into the Timeline.

Very nice board btw Tor.

Re: Post your current board

Thanks, guys! Agile, you're pretty much right on. The favorite switch for the Wet switches between a nice preset for lead playing and the original settings of the Wet which provides the basis for pads and swells. The mini expression is supposed to control the depth of the tremolo of the Semaphore, but unfortunately I've gotten a version in which an external expression cannot control the depth, so I need to buy a newer unit. The tap signal is split in two, tapping both the Timeline and the Semaphore. The midi control is much easier for banking up and down. Haven't had the need for the looping capabilities yet, but I will get into that eventually..
