That was one of my holy grail guitars too. Not because Reb Beach, but Gary Holt played one.

Really? Do you have any photos of this? I am not trying to be disingenuous, that is simply awesome, and I was not aware of it.

I don't know about 10 or 20 years ago but this year will be 30 years since I purchased my 1989 Yamaha RGX Custom guitar. This was the ultimate guitar for me after playing 2 years on a Korean copy Strat guitar. This axe is everything I wanted in an electric guitar. It has a 5-piece maple/mahogany neck-thru body and select ash body. It has a 24 fret ebony fret board with 12F Crystal inlays and the neck feels slim and fast. The vibrato unit is well-machined for precision dive-bombs and it even has a pitch-rise adjustment wheel for how far back you can go with the whammy bar. I think this particular guitar was ahead of it's time since it had so many features other guitars didn't offer. There is coil-splitting for both humbuckers via push/pull tone knob and there are 2 height adjustment screws on one side so you could precisely angle the pick up with the strings. The locking nut is also adjustable in height making for easy precise adjustments. It came equipped with Jim Dunlop strap-locks. I do not plan on selling this sports coupe at all and I believe I'll take it to the grave with me.:)

maxxas? havent seen one of those in forever! the hollow ones were really cool

Yeah! You rarely see them around now. Ibanez didn't want to release them under their own name.

Gretsch High Roller has always been my "white whale" and still is.

I sure hate those PhotoBucket slides that ruin the picture.:( What brand is that guitar? It sure looks awesome! The scalloping on the FB reminds me of Billy Sheehan's Yamaha Bass guitar with that same type of scalloping.

Ibanez Jem 77FP, 777LNG; ESP Lynch Skulls/ Snakes and Hammett Ouija and the black one used to be the guitars to die for. Now I realize these are just woodwork with wires and magnets with fancy cosmetics.

10 years ago, I wasn't playing electric yet, but my "holy grail" was an acoustic my teacher had. I don't remember if it was a Taylor or a Martin or whatever but it was expensive and it was great. It cost around what a Gibson Historic costs.

This is my holy grail now. 2010 Trad. I A/B'd it with a 2007 R8 and a 2011 Custom Shop LP Custom. Tuning issues and hardware notwithstanding, this thing *SMOKES* both the custom shop axes. The tone is more even across the frequencies unplugged, and it's noticeably more resonant, probably because of the Swiss Chese holes.

It needs a lot of TLC, though, but the wood and the construction makes it a grail.

Probably a Parker fly
Electric and piezo
Light weight
Sleek modern looks

Yeah most of my recent Chinese build have been trying to replicate that feature set

Jackson KE1 Marty Friedman signature model:

And I'd still love one! But I like his new one-off purple Jackson MF1 even better now:

That thing is unreal. But not really a holy grail of mine. I don't think I have any holy grails left.
I now know that I love semihollows and Les Pauls for their tone, that Teles don't work for me and that I should always have a Strat around.

I forgot about mentioning those. They were wonderful guitars, but then they sort of watered down the design a bit and lost what made them so modern.

Here is another one I wanted (more than, ahem, 20 years ago)..the AH-10!

Alvarez Dana Scoop's:

These used to be all over ebay a few years ago for $150-300 (vs. $800-1000+ these days) regret not picking one up back then..

They've always pretty much exemplified "SHRED" to me :bigthumb:
