post your pedals, rack effects, amps

Re: post your pedals, rack effects, amps

see below, and pedals atm:

Boss DS-1 (spina modded :D)
Boss DD-3 (homemade hi-cut mod)
Boss BF-2
Crybaby (modded to rough-ish VOX specs)
and a totally anonymous chorus pedal (no makers markings, no even on the PCB.. sounds OK though)

and a powerbank, to make it all light up :)

they've all got blue LED's wherever possible (makes identifying mine easier)... might have a go at putting in that voicing swtich on the crybaby...

yeah, i'm a tinkerer :burnout:

Re: post your pedals, rack effects, amps

It's a custom 50 watt head, 4 12ax7s, two EL34s. Trace at Voodoo Amps voiced it for me after I sent him several sample clips of what I wanted it to sound like and it's really great. It's pretty straight forward too: Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, Master Volume and on the back is the Presence and Brutal/Savage switch. The Brutal/Savage switch engages an additional gain stage.

The tone is very thick and crunchy, no buzzy overtones at all. It's really deep and clear and reminds me of Adam Jones' tone. Just pure crunch, raw, and heavy :)

That is it so far. No I don't use them all, all the time. Yes, it is an everchanging pallete. Works for me.

Re: post your pedals, rack effects, amps

How's that Valvulator workin' out for ya?

I want to get one and attach it to a reck shelf so I can safely transport it in my 3-space I have.

Re: post your pedals, rack effects, amps

I don't really use effects, I've always plugged straight in, maybe an overdrive pedal now and then. It was only recently that I bought a Small Clone (USA) and a Small Stone (sovtek). I don't think I'll use them on recordings, but they're fun to play around with. Some people have a whole music store for a rig, it just isn't me though.

Re: post your pedals, rack effects, amps

man this thread is making me want to buy more pedals now i "NEED" to add a boss OC-2, a modded tube screamer and a digitech whammy to my arsenal soon...i've held off on them too long.

The basics:

Ibanez tube screamer TS-9dx
Electro Harmonix Holy Grail reverb
Boss DD-3 Delay
Vox Wah

that's it

I like the valvulator. If I was going straight into the amp, I would still go guitar->valvulator->amp. It adds a little "something". It's a good something though. kind of cleans up the overall sound. Adds depth and livens up the signal. Kind of makes the guitar more touch sensative. It is hard for me to explain. I like the pedal. I have to try running the fuzz pedal before the buffer (valvulator) I heard somewhere that fuzz pedals sound better before a line driver/buffer.

that's a lot man.
so do you like the MXR or Boss EQ pedal most?

Well, one son has the Boss, the other the MXR. What does dad get? Nothin'!!

:laugh2: I like the 10 band MXR better, but it has it's own attached power cord which can be annoying.
