Pot value for actives?

I want to hear both my Mustaines and my Livewire Classic II's in my Schecter C-1. The Mustaine diagram calls for 100k pots. The Classic II's came with 25k pots. To avoid doing a complete rewire to try both, which do you think would be more forgiving of the "wrong" pot value?

I'd use 100k pots and add 33k resistor in parallel to obtain 25k (well, 100k // 33k = 24.8k but I think it's close enough).
It will / would change the taper but even that might be a bonus if we rely on this old web page: http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/potsecrets/potscret.htm
