Power conditioners and buzzing tube amps

Hello again everyone, I was wondering what you might recomend for a buzzing amp and an old bar?? I tried plugging my amp into the PA rack, but that just gave me a different kind of buzz. Has anyone tried those FURMAN PF PLUS yet? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/181309/ Or is there an easier (and cheeper) way to clean this power up??

I use the older (series 1) version of this;

Furman PL-Plus Series II

and it's great. I've never tried the PF before, but Furman is known for being the standard when it comes to pro audio power supply.....

I just bought that model two weeks ago or so and I am pleased with it. It even came with a 5 space rack bag :dance:

Give one a try there pretty cheap(100 and up).

You may also want to try a HUSH. I've used the old HUSH II's since they came out years ago. They eliminate unwanted Buzz, Hum, and Hiss without sucking your tone. Keep with the HUSH Rack units, as I've heard the HUSH PEDAL isn't as good. ...........

Ditto ... I use a PL-plus myself ... don't know the series, I would assume just the *original* That will help, but it could be other things as well.

That too is good way to go, and better as far as shock resistance, even so if it's just line noise I'd go with the power conditioner. As depending exactly how an isolation tranny is made you can still have the line noise transeferred to. A shielded one with liftable shield grounds would be a good idea. No particular models come to mind though.

Thanks guys, that helps a lot. I don't think the HUSH is what i am looking for, I have a Boss Noise Suppressor that I use when the AC is really noisy, but that interfears with sustain, and feedback. I am going to look into that line isolation transformer.

Hmmm, I was just thinking ( i know that is not recomended to think in here ), what about mounting a furman PL plus in the back of my twin??? Like just on top of the reverb tank?? I would have to do some rearanging of the back panel...

Just a thought...

Let's think about this, a filtered power supply, sitting next to two big fluctuating magnetic and electric fields (speakers), and and inductive source (reverb pan) ... ah, lets not. Power should always be kept away from any audio lines, and most certinly not put in close proximity to transformers, speakers, and other nastys.

It won't interfere with sustain or feedback.


It will Eliminate your noise problem.

Although I share your love of the Hush systems, still sounds like he should clean up his power first, and THEN get a hush ... They are great aren't they...
