Re: Power Cords
My point exactly: changing the speakers would have a much more important impact on one's tone than almost anything else (except changing the amp itself of course) but people rarely do it. Why? Imo, 2 things:
1- it's expensive but also very cumbersome
2- there are so many speakers out there that it's getting confusing and chosing a speaker and understanding its eq curve is a lot more complex than, for example, pick-ups. When you're researching it's not just "more lows mids and highs" but complex curves with frequencies, which is also why folks keep to a few classic one (or clones of them) instead of really experimenting...
Well Said (and many by Pigbacon also). Hard to believe we are still discussing this stuff.
Perhaps Power Cables/Speaker Cables should be relegated to the realm of Politics and Religion.....Not allowed...!! If you bring it up, you suffer a 3 month suspension.

You mention speakers. I bring that up from time to time. Guitar Players typically have all kinds of "stuff" but very few of them own any kind of realistic number of speakers.
They might own 3 amps, 7 guitars, 79 pedals, piles of pick-ups.....but they only own a single 587 Ohm speaker and want to know if it can somehow be wired for 8 Ohms.
There is hardly any other Component/Device you can change that will have The Big Impact that a different speaker will make.
As you say, they are somewhat expensive, and kind of hard to swap, but.....a guitar player should have 3-4 different types on hand.
I am not suggesting that 20 year olds needs to buy 4 greatly different speakers all at once, but over time, a player needs to acquire them....just for their own sake of Growing/Improving as a guitar player. :dunno:
