Powering old Boss Pedals

I may be picking up some 20 year old Boss pedals (full story here) and I have some questions about powering them.

The older ones say they need an ASA power supply, while the newer ones need a PSA power supply (which I understand is pretty much the standard for most newer pedals).

I'm concerned about the ASA powered pedals. I use a Godlyke power supply on my board (which I believe is similar to the One Spot).

Questions:
1. Will the Godlyke damage the Boss pedals?
2. If not, will it affect the tone?

The information that you want is here: http://www.bossarea.com/other/aca.asp

Basically, you want a boss pedal that you can daisy chain from (ie a TU-2, as NS-2, a PSM-5 or a LS-2) and you should be able to use that to properly distribute the power to your pedals.

Thanks... from the article:
The solution is to use a daisy chain and plug in another pedal designed for the newer ACA or PSA adapter. The lead between the two pedals will short the resistor diode pair and the pedal will receive full power
Does this mean, if I run the old pedal in the same chain with a new pedal, then I can use my Godlyke?

Umm, I'm not sure. I know that if you use one of the boss power distribution pedals like I listed (using your power supply to power that), and daisy chain off of that it'll work out pretty well . . . I'd say give it a try, and if it doesn't work you can always pick up a PSM-5 from ebay for 30-40 dollars if you need it.

Re: Powering old Boss Pedals

I think the Godlyke unit should be fine. I have a few Bosses, some that use the ACA and some that use the PSA. I have used my PSA adapter with each a few times without any problems, but mostly I use the Visual Sound OneSpot. The OneSpot claims to be compatible with both, so I just stick with that.

Re: Powering old Boss Pedals

I just got back from lunch and testing the pedals. I tried the DF-2 with the ACA adapter (schweet!) I tried it with my Godlyke - without changing the settings. It worked, but it wasn't as in-your-face as with the ACA. I didn't have a lot of time, but I think if I played with the settings I could beef it up a bit and make it work.

He has a couple of ACA adapters in the box - I'll see what he wants for them.
