Preamp battery connector clip question

Hello
I hooked up an aguilar OBP-1 bass preamp today which takes 9volt x2 and when adjusting the batteries i noticed a strange taste in my mouth and then realized it was some kind of surge from touching the battery near the connector clip. Did i hook something up wrong, or is that normal?
The instrument wasn't plugged in.

Normally, to get a taste or a tingling sensation on the tongue, you have to complete the circuit between the positive and negative terminals ... with your tongue.

How exactly are your two battery clips interconnected? Photographs might help.

Have you done some yourself wiring??
soldering and so???

If yes it can be that you have taken to much vaporized ingredients from your solder
dive us some sign that you are alive
