Preamp Pedals with Poweramp

I might of asked this before, but either way. lemme know.

Ok, My new idea for a versitile, portable rig is as follows. Im going to have a Boss ME-50 for most effects, a EQ, then go into a Boost/Distortion/OD. I have a Carvin T100 poweramp in a small rack, where I dont really want to add much more if I can help it.

So, I would obviously need a PREAMP in this mix somewhere. This is where I remember there are so called "Preamp pedals". I used to own the Duncan Twintube classic, but I never really used it all that often cause I was focused mainly on my Pod X3L, but now I am shifting away from Pods other than recording.

Would that work/be good, a pedal acting as the preamp? Or should I just go buy an ADA MP-1? I would like to have a pedal as the preamp AND some kinda boost/Overdrive, that would be the best. Is there such a thing?

And what are my best options? Like I said, I didnt really dig the Twintube, it wasnt enough of a boost for my liking.

Re: Preamp Pedals with Poweramp

The ADA MP-1 is solid state clean, and the tube clean setting isn't all that great for truly clean tones IMO. I like it for broken up rhythm sounds way more. The TT Classic has a good "clean" tube sound and would work well. NAMM may have some good things to offer as well, if you can wait until January.

The question is how much overdrive do you need from the pedal? Will you be trying to use it with the Carvin as a "2/3 channel head" or will you get your tones from the ME-50 and then be looking for Fendery clean channel tone at the end?
