Preamp tube layout in DSL 50 Q's.

Does anyone know the function of each of the 4, preamp tubes in a DSL 50 head? Is the preamp tube that is closest to the power tubes the phase invertor? I'm assuming it is but I'd like to be sure before I start to experiment with the preamp tubes. I'm curious as to what tube combinations other DSL 50 owners have tried so any suggestions are most welcome. Thanks.

Mike, generally the preamp tube closest to the input jack is your first gain stage and the farthest from the jack/closest to the power tubes is the inverter.

Someone here must know the exact funtion of each.

Thank you, Robert. What you said makes sense but like I said, I just wanted to be sure.

Check the schematic at drtube.com in the Marshall section. I'd post the link but I can't get the site to load right now.

Re: Preamp tube layout in DSL 50 Q's.

I think in the 3 tube Marshall set up, the furthest fromthe power tubes is V1, V2(P/I) in the middle & V3 closest tothe power tubes.

Yours being a 2 channel amp, V1 is probably the same & V3 is probably the V1 slot for the 2nd channel.....V2 & V4 might be shared by the 2 channels.

I'm guessing here, if you couldn't tell :D
