Finally got her in re-assembly! Completely buried in clear! (About 10 coats) blocked smooth!

And I finished this one a few months back. Perfectly smooth as well. Blue base, clear, silver then plastic laid on when wet and pulled to marbleize, clear, green splatter, blocked flat some, biohazard decal, then more clear and blocked smooth. :)

Re: Prestige custom paint builds

I personally like the blue/green splatter finish more, but great work nonetheless. Looks great!

Never coming out! They look so real (white water slide decal paper) that when I tried to do this once before the guitar body was left out, and the cable company was at my shop after hours fixing something, and someone tried to razor blade out the one full bill.

DId you unleash hell fury on the company after you discovered it?

The money one isn't for me but i love the green splatter and if you have any others i would love to see those too.

Re: Prestige custom paint builds

I'm kinda iffy on the money one too, I was just trying to do something different. I have another prestige body in the works I am currently stripping down. I'm probably going to do a veneer top on, haven't really decided yet.

Wierd Tapatalk made a new account for me.......

One painter to another...NICE WORK!

The polishing is always a pain, and no one seems to give credit for just how much of a grind it is (pun intended!) to get that mirror smooth finish. Especially on something like that spatter job. To me, that's the one that's way impressive.

What clear do you use? (I like House of Kolor USC-01 for custom work.)

On the splatter job, I put on 4 good coats of clear before the splatter, blocked those down some then cleared and blocked again to smooth it out, that way the splatter creates that shadow so when you angle the body slightly the green really pops out! I sprayed all BASF Diamont on these, as that is what we use on all our cars we repair. It's really expensive though like $300 a gallon. I usually use EURO ZE6042 clear which has worked very well (about $125 for a gallon w/ hardener at my cost). I have an e-mail inquiry into Cardinal Coatings for their instrument line of urethane sanding sealers and clear coats I want to try out.

I have used that House of Kolor USC-01 Clear on a friend's motorcycle I painted with a House of Kolor 3-stage system.
