Well...
I peeled everything back to where the coil wires hooks up to the initial lead wires. There was continuity on all wires, including the ground. DC on each coil was about 8.35. Together, about 16.7. I even replaced the 4 conductor cabling. Magnet is in the proper position. Reassembled the PU. I'm really surprised it still works, but I'm still getting the same results. Like I said before: It's still very useable...but with a slight quirk to it.
Very interesting in there. I never realized how fine the coiling wire is, or how penetrating the wax can get. There's like thousands of variables you can throw at these components...
