Hi guys have been lurking these fora for a while and learned so much from the people posting here.
But i have run into a problem that i cannot solve by merely googgleing.
My charvel mod3 (the one with pickguard) has been acting up ever since i installed a gibson tommi iommi humbucker
I know it is not a forum favourite pickup but it totally works in this guitar yadayada...
The problem is
It has four conductor wiring
I do not want to coil split
So the green and white are connected
Red and black are where they are supposed to be
But every once in a while one of the coils just decides it doesn't want to play along.
I already re soldered the connection several times (green and white where already soldered when the pick up came out of the box)
It is paired with a jackson 1986 singlecoil in the neck
And has a gibson threeway switch (bridge / bridge+neck / neck)
And only has a 500K volume pot, no tone pot
Touching the solder joint with a rusty screwdriver fixes the problem temporarily but after about 30 minutes it craps out and i clearly hear the sound of just one of the coils of the iommi humbucker
Does any of the brilliant people here have any idea what it could be?
My best bet is that i have a weird static electricity buildup rtc
All bare wires are insulated with vinyl tape
The pickguard is shielded.
Bridge is grounded etc
I do use a germanium fuzz (blackout effectors blunderbuss) powered by a onespot wallwart
This does not give any problems with any of my other guitars
Thanx for reading
Jordi
