problems fitting p-rails and triple shot mountings on a left handed guitar

I found out fitting the switches of the triple shot mountings on the upper side of the guitar, the angle of the mountings go the wrong direction on a left handed guitar.
on the sloping guitar-top the angle of the mountingrings goes terribly wrong with the switches fitted above the low e-string as is normally done.
the wrong angle doubles on a left handed guitar.

has anybody faced this problem and solved it?

i like to keep the triple shot mountings (more sound options than 2 miniswitches and i just changed the wiring so wont go for push-pull pots option), can i fit them upside down, will this affect the playability?

doing so, will i face other problems ?

i tried to change the angle of the rings with a Dremel, but they are too vulnarable to damage, i found ou the bad way.

if they changed the design, and changed the triple shot mounting in a top part with the switches and a separate ring to compensate the angle, it could be fitted to both right and left handed guitars.

does anybody have a wiring diagram of the tripleshot mountings themselves ?

welcome to the forum!

if i was in your situation, i would mount them so the angle fit the top and the switches were near the high e string. its an adjustment to get used to the little switches so whether up or down doesnt seem like much of a difference to me

What guitar exactly? Many times the straight rings can be used and gently bend over the arc of an arched top.

There is no solution to this sort of issue for LH players.......you just have to change your mindset to cope with the fact that some things are 'hand specific'. Any compensated bridges, tele bridge, preslotted sloped nuts etc etc.

Quite frankly I can't see any issue with switches just sitting where they have to for the ring angle........I mean what other guitars do you have that have those same switches in another part of the ring - such that you have already generated a behavior pattern to break with these??
And your fingertips tend to be on the treble side of the strings anyhow.

I have the switches on the bottom when using the flat versions, as I prefer them away from cuffs, though I wonder if turning either style 180' might clash with scratch plates? I know the screw spacing won't be any different, but I think the switch side is slightly longer?

I'm not altogether sure what problem is going on here though, the top curve, or the switch position

it is just that SD made the choice to fit the switches on top. On the other hand, mini switches are mostly fitted to the bottom of the guitar (because they make use of an existing cavity in the body?)

Thanks, i will fit the mountings upside down, problem solved.

this is the last change i will make to my guitar; i fitted a Faber tone lock bridge and tone lock set for tailpiece (worthwile), Sperzel locking tuners, Bourns potmeters (antilog for left handed guitar), fifties wiring, p-rals with tsm. At the moment i am fitting a Tusq nut. it has the same dimensions as an epiphone nut (so i thought it would be a straight swap), but the slots are shallower, so i have to change that.

Those changes were one by one an upgrade. putting the strings over the tailpiece was a cheap improvement (free!~)
