Project fullMap

Re: Project fullMap

Man this is really turning out nicely! I wish had this kind of skill. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Re: Project fullMap

Update time. I think i might call the finish done. It still needs more drying time i imagine a week or so. I have drilled all the extra holes for the jack and buttons. So now its just more polishing followed by some wax.

Just a few pics

Re: Project fullMap

absolutely amazing. I can't believe how well this is turning out bro.

This is going to be quite the unique guitar. Everyone will be so jealous of it!

Re: Project fullMap

Thanks I do my best. Did you see the weight i posted? It will be total 3kg when its done so its nice and light.

Re: Project fullMap

Looking good Raph. You got rid of those scratches I guess ?

Thanks,I am going to make another one out of a chunk of rose alder i have. As far as i can tell that wood hasn't been used on a guitar before. Not sure if its the greatest idea bu its in the weight range for a body so i dont see why not.
.
Yeah i still have one scratch but who cares i doubt anyone would even notice but me. I alo need to sand the frets 13 to 31 as they still need a bit of work. I had the ass of the guitar hanging in the sun for few hous and a few of the joins raised up but they seem to have settled back down again. So that was a lesson.

i want to get this finished asap but i am running out of time before the next addition into my family comes. Wifes complaining, sore everything fake contractions aii aii aii haha]

Here is a rose alder box, Looks good lets just hope its not a dead tone haha jokes

Raphael, I am really impressed with how shiny that finish is. Have you sanded and buffed it out? Can't wait to see it all together and ROCKIN! That Rose Alder sounds interesting.

Thanks glad you like it. Sanding between coats and a final cut and polishing followed by the final wax ''which i haven't done''. That how Dad taught me to do it. I had to sand it back again so it needs another coat now. I much prefer acrylic lacquer to this minwax but like i said its got its charm.

That's an awesome box actually. I'm in SCA and I really actually need to build one of those kind of boxes for stowage, and that one's gorgeous.

So when are we going to get a full-money shot of this guitar, man. None of this side-boob/no crotch cheesecake photos; give us the full monty on this whore.

Re: Project fullMap

That is looking great. A very cool build.

Hey thanks man, Its been a major job and its still not finished. I was pissed off with it this morning it got the better of my emotions haha

I decided i would do some more coats on the fb but i sort of went backwards instead of forwards and now i am chasing my tail. I dont think i will use this stuff again.....it takes too long to get it right.

Hopefully i can wire it up within a few weeks. The i can begin on another build.......

Re: Project fullMap

psst mate don't forget to finish this!;)

If not, disturbance in the Force and all!

Haha man i wont be. In fact i painted the cavities with the shielding paint today. Happy enought with the fretboard so now its just let it dry and put it back together.
