Project strat - Advice attatching the neck?

Hey,

I've nearly finished my project strat now and I'm loving it already, the only thing i need some advice on before i go ahead and drill the new screw holes in the heel of my neck is this:

When i sit the neck in place, its a pretty tight fit, but it is over the edge very slightly on the LEFT hand side of the body, ITS A LEFTY! before anyone gets confused reading this.

If you look a lefty strat face up head on. the left hand side of the neck pocket. the neck sits very slightly over the edge. (probably 1mm)

Is there anything i should do or will this small thing not really matter?

Thanks

try some string or strings if possible & hold them along the length into the nut. maybe get someone to help if you need it. check to see if it's aligned nicely that way would be a good start I feel.

Hi,

Its a bit strange because if you look at a strat neck pocket, it has to 'Edies' that the neck sits into very nicely. Yet it hangs over the edge very slightly.

and in logic, really, If it was any thinner it wouldn't fit in the neck pocket correctly because it would sit away from either side wouldn't it?

This is probably just the squier quality coming through but i'll do that and try and sort it before i drill :)

Thanks

quite often you need to pull it to the side, sounds really dodgy but to realign the neck on my telecaster I had to pull my neck to the side.

dont drill untill you're happy & make sure it's as tightly to the back as it can be when you do it, when you screw it on, screw it in most of the way & then hold it in alignment when tightening it to the end. That'l help it sit right, rather than pulling it afterwards.

get some help holding it if you need to.

with the neck in the neck pocket, put the 2 outside E strings on and see how they line up on the neck... don't tighten the strings up of course since the neck is not screwed in... i normally lightly clamp a neck in the neck and use some leather piece from an old guitar strap to cushon the clamp from marking and denting the body and neck/frets

if the strings sit right on the neck then don't worry about the overhang on the neck pocket...

ok thanks :P

all the advice is greatly appreciate,d it looks like the line up fine but i will clamp the neck in place ready to drill and double check, obviously if ti doesn't seem right il look into it further
