Pros and cons of going from medium jumbo to jumbo frets in a guitar with trem FR?

I am guessing that the saddles need to be raised a bit to avoid string buzz but, have you needed to change the nut to something higher to avoid string buzz at lower frets? My 1996 Sambora Standard Strat has locking nut and floating floyd rose bridge and also has some wear out frets and I was thinking maybe I can have it refreted and having jumbo frets, I have liked it so far in my Charvel. The trick with my guitar is it has locking trem so I can have the bridge adjusted but what if the nut needs to be changed so string distance to frets may need to be increased to avoid string buzz?

It's possible to shim a Floyd Rose nut as well, so you shouldn't need a new nut.

Just shim the nut and raise the bridge, should be good to go.

If it was a standard nut it would probably need to be replaced.

Yes, this shouldn't be an issue. I like bigger-than-vintage frets myself, so when it is time to refret my Fender (actually, it is probably past time), I am going to go for medium jumbo SS frets. It has a standard nut, so I am guessing it will have to be replaced, too.

I have a Kramer where the previous owner added 6100 frets (the second-tallest fretwire sold by Dunlop). It works like a charm, with absolutely no problems. I haven't looked under the nut, but I guess that he probably put in a shim or two to compensate.

What they said. I have an old Yamaha strat that needs a refret. It's a bit nostalgic to me, so not sure if I should regret or just buy a new Warmoth neck or regret the old. I do prefer at least medium jumbo frets, but all of my Dean Hardtails have jumbos, and when they are level and the fret ends smooth, they're a joy to play.
