PRS doesn't make lefties, so ...

Re: PRS doesn't make lefties, so ...

I used it for most of the lead stuff on the record, actually. I used it for the leads on Lungstripper Lowdown, through the Splawn Pro Mod, and I think on the other two MySpace tracks as well though I'm not 100% on that.

Get a PRS and "Hendrix" it up! :D

Edit : It would work specially well with the santana!

For something more economic I'd go with a Michael Kelly VALOR (Custom or Limited).

For a higher price mark I feel I was pretty much covered by sosomething and his Carvins ;)

Didn't know that PRS doesn't make lefties. Explains why I haven't seen em though. That sucks.

At the higher price mark, carvin makes some incredible instruments. It seems to me that PRS is a little more discriminating over the wood they use to build their guitars than carvin, but both pay an incredible amount of attention to detail with their fretwork.

QC on everything else for carvins is a little more lax from personal experience and what I've heard...my carvin DC747 that I custom ordered arrived with a neck pickup that was DOA. One wonders how THAT got past QC. I've also heard about brand new guitars arriving with dents, etc.

But, don't get me wrong. I called up customer service about the dead neck pickup, and told em that I could solder and didn't wanna ship the whole guitar back. They shipped me out a replacement pickup right away. At least they came through on that front.

They make some pretty *****in guitars. If ya can though, buy used. I eventually found out the hard way that should you ever want sell your instrument...well...ya take a big hit from the "as new" price ;).

I got 2 left handed Paul Reed Smith copies from Ali Express, and LOVE em!Paul Reed Porch.jpgPRS my ew gold one.jpg I replaced the tuners, and pickups with genuine PRS 59/09 pickups, and phase II locking tuners from Amazon, replaced the 250K pots with 500K pots, and 3 way switch from guitar center. After months of searching, I have located the genuine bridges at MannMadeUSA.com. Notice these have Strat bridges.

Neither PRS or PRS SE make left handed models.

Does anyone else make a PRS-like guitar (set neck, double cutaway, carved top, etc.) that's any good? I'll consider anything from an outright clone to something in the general ballpark, ideally something in the $700 - $1000 range.

Thanks.

NoW, you'll have to do your homework, because there are many manufacturers, and some are better than others, check reviews! I've seen good ones and bad ones. I'm happy with mine.

I think 8 years later he might have either bought or abandoned the idea.

And maybe modding the pictures so you are not showing up that you have blatantly bought fakes posing as the real thing might be a good idea (ie crop out headstock)

+1

Knowingly buying counterfeit gear isn't cool. When this stuff finds it's way to the used market, less knowledgeable people end up getting scammed. Those would bother me less if the headstocks were different at least.

I'd go Carvin/Kiesel. They have the CS6 (I think) that looks very PRS-y. I think the wait time is the same as any other guitar they build. BTW, I am a lefty too, but I learned righty. :)
